New York City!!! Drawing this set made me want to book a flight and see all these sights! My husband still hasn't been so there will be a getaway to the city in our future. I also have a craving to binge watch You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, An Affair to Remember, and all seasons of 30 Rock.

Rome, Italy has probably been my most requested set...for 4 years...so I finally got around to finishing it! The little columns are just so cute! Find it HERE or HERE. Now that I finished the most requested kit, what else would you like to see from me?
I now have clip art sets for the following countries/cities (click on the city to see the kit):
Happy Christmas! This year you get not just one, but TWO new kits! I'm on roll! This nutcracker set is perfectly ready to create gift tags, wrapping paper, ornaments, kid crafts, puppets, or Christmas cards. Purchase yours HERE or HERE.
Merry Christmas! Last year my mom wanted cute nativity illustrations to print off for the grandkids, but she couldn't find any. She asked me to draw some and it took me an entire year to finally get around to it. :) I just love how this set turned out and I hope that you do too!
You can purchase the papers and clip art for commercial use HERE or HERE.
You may have missed my super exciting ginormous announcement on instagram a couple of weeks ago------I am now a fabric designer for Riley Blake!!! My first fabric collection will debut at Quilt Market in October and be in shops in Spring 2018. Pinch me! This is a bucket list life goal of mine and I can't even contain my excitement! Riley Blake is an awesome company and I've loved working with them so far. There's a huge learning curve and it's more work than I thought, but the collection is my new baby and y'all are going to love it! Who's excited with me?! You can check out all the sneak peeks and updates on my instagram account @citrusandmintdesigns.
One of my very first clients was also one of the worst. Mostly because I was new to design, so I was over-worked and under-paid. They commissioned me to draw groups of children doing different activities and without any thought, I drew children of all different races, skin and hair color. The first criticism I received after sending the first draft was "Can you make the children more white? Like with blonde hair and blue eyes?" I was appalled. This was a large company and the project would be displayed in public. I understood that most of their clients would be blonde haired/blue eyed, but why shouldn't the art represent all people? Why should their clients (mostly children) only be surrounded by images of people that look like them?
This is a problem. This is racism. I've vowed ever since to add diversity to my illustration work. I would like to offer something to help combat racism. Down below you can download the illustration I did of little Ruby Bridges for FREE. The challenge is to print it off and hang it in your child's bedroom or in a visible area of your home. Talk to your family about Ruby. Talk to them about racism. Talk to them about how wonderful it is that God created this world with all kinds of different people. I believe that one of the biggest ways we can help combat this disturbing reality of racism is to start with our children. The more they see and interact with people of all races, the more tolerant they will be--the more likely they will grow up seeing people for who they are and not the color of their skin. It's a small thing to do, but it's a start.
I've had a few comments from people wishing that they knew how to embroider. Would you be surprised if I said that I learned how to embroider only a month ago? I signed up for Creativebug and took THIS Rebecca Ringquist online class. It's really simple and so much fun! I even taught my 6 year old and she loves it. She is a back stitch pro.
To demonstrate really how easy the stitches are, I (very quickly) created 3 "how to" videos that you can view below (warning, I'm not a videographer, and I'm not a pro embroiderer). These are the three basic stitches that I use in all my patterns. Watch the videos and then get a pattern and get sewing! Find the patterns here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/citrusandmintthreads
Exciting news!!! I have expanded Citrus and Mint to now sell embroidery patterns in a new shop on Etsy called citrusandmintthreads (HERE). It all started with some major creative block, which led me to take a beginning embroidery class on Creativebug (highly recommend). Then I was hooked! There's something to adding dimension and texture to my illustrations that is so satisfying. Added bonus--I can embroider in the car and not get carsick, AND I can embroider when I have migraines (which unfortunately have been coming more and more frequently). So even when I am sick I can create, something I couldn't do before.
I also decided to make this shop all not for profit. I will be donating 100% of my profit from this store to refugee aid. I will select different refugee aid organizations every so often to spread the wealth. This month I will be donating to one of my favorite humanitarian organizations, Lifting Hands International. Right now they are running a Gather for Goats campaign where they buy goats for refugee families so that they can have a good source of nourishment and possible income. So you get fun embroidery patterns, and refugees get goats. I think it's a good tradeoff :) Find the shop here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/citrusandmintthreads
I will be continuing to add more patterns to the shop, especially kid friendly beginning patterns. Let me know what patterns you would like to see in the comments below or email me at email@example.com
I want candy! No seriously, I need gummy bears. I've been working on cutting out sugar (doctor prescribed) and it's so hard. In an attempt to curb my cravings, I worked on creating this candy clip art and paper sets for you (it didn't work). I originally entered three of the candy patterns in a contest, but didn't win, so y'all benefit from the loss. I hope this will be perfect for all your candy lover parties and summer fun!

I seem to have my holidays backwards this year. New valentines clip art set for Christmas and a polar animals clip art set for Valentine's Day. I always draw what inspires me most at the time, which means sometimes it is random. :) I'm helping with a baby shower for my friend and she specifically requested a penguin theme. Well, since there aren't many penguin themed baby shower items out there, I thought I'd draw my own. Hence the new kit.
I did it all in Photoshop with textures this time!!! Let me know if you like the texture, or if you prefer flat images.
Also this month I am donating 100% of my profits (minus fees and medical bills) to Lifting Hands International for refugees. It's the perfect month to stock up on kits that you've wanting while also helping out refugees!

Have a wonderful Valentines!
