trends: love it or leave it?

A couple of weeks ago Sweet Shoppe Designs asked a question on their facebook page, "What scrapbooking trends do you wish would disappear?" The responses were hilarious! There are quite a few passionate mustache and neon haters out there!

love it: project life layouts

I was surprised how many people commented on hating Project Life/Pocket Scrapbooking. While I can't see myself ever doing Project Life every week for an entire year, I do like the layouts. They contain everything that I need on a page: lots of pictures, lots of papers, and lots of journaling--all while still looking clean and easy on the eyes. Project Life layouts are also perfect if you are in a rut or just need to get something scrapped. I think I would get sick of an entire book of Project Life and I don't like how the digital pocket protectors mask photos, but I think an occasional layout is good.  I think what most people find frustrating with this trend is that it seems like every scrapbook designer on Earth is only releasing Project Life products this year [. . .]

leave it: wood veneer

I love the wood papers as neutral backgrounds for pages, real or doodled; however, I just cannot get into the wood veneer trend.  Is anyone with me? Maybe it's because I'm not a fan of light wood or maybe it's the burned edges. I don't know. Just something about it. If you do like this trend, Sahlin Studio has several wood veneer elements and word sets. Chelle's Creations also has cool PS styles where you can turn anything you want into wood veneer.
How about y'all? What trends do you love? Which will you leave behind?

I'm with you on the wood. It just never looks quite right on my pages. It's probably my shadowing or something but it just looks... not right.

I'm not into the mustaches. I think it's cute but it's a very specific niche. The other trend I'm a little tired of (just a little...I still use 'em now & again) are chevrons; I like 'em, just getting a little overdone on them. I don't know if this is a trend or not, but for me accordion fan "flowers" are my new thing. I think because they're a good substitute for frou-frou flowers, which I need, since I'll scrapping a lot of "little boy" come October. :)

Agreed about the mustaches- overdone. I'm not sick of chevrons in scrapbooking yet, but I am sick of them in home decor. Accordion flowers are a good alternative for boys (why didn't I think of that?). I'll have to research how to make my own digital ones. And congrats on the boy!! I'm kind of partial to them right now :)
